Our History
2006
At just 8 years old, Nolan Navara spotted a used push mower at a garage sale and convinced his parents to buy it.
That single decision sparked a passion for hard work and lawn care, launching a one-man neighborhood mowing service in Tiffin called Nolan’s Lawn Care.
2007
Nolan started picking up regular mowing jobs around the neighborhood.
His consistent quality and professional attitude—even as a kid—earned him word-of-mouth referrals and a steady flow of greenbacks and green lawns.
2008
As demand grew, Nolan upgraded from a basic push mower to a Dixon zero-turn riding mower, which allowed him to mow faster and take on more clients.
His garage-sale hustle was turning into a serious venture.
2009–2015
While still in school, Nolan balanced mowing with studying and learning the ins and outs of landscaping.
With the help of his parents and teachers, he began understanding the business side—bookkeeping, invoicing, and customer service.
2016
Nolan graduated from Clear Creek Amana High School and enrolled at Kirkwood Community College.
He began taking turf grass management and irrigation classes while continuing to run and grow Nolan’s Lawn Care.
2017
After outgrowing his parents’ 2 stall garage, Nolan bought a 30×60’ commercial shop condo.
This was the beginning of the transition from part-time lawn care to a full-fledged landscaping business.
2018–2020
Nolan expanded his offerings to include fertilization, landscape construction, and snow removal.
The company began serving not only residential properties but also commercial clients and HOAs.
2021
Nolan’s crew began to grow with classmates and local hires joining the team. The company took on its first large commercial jobs, including manufacturing plants and retail developments.
Nolan’s Lawn Care began making a name for itself as more than just a mowing business.
2022
With a growing team and increasing equipment fleet, Nolan streamlined operations, added more trucks, and invested in project management tools to keep up with larger-scale jobs.
2023
To reflect the company’s expanded capabilities and professional identity, Nolan’s Lawn Care officially rebranded to Nolan Landscaping.
The new name better aligned with the company’s focus on commercial landscape construction, maintenance, and snow services.
2025
Today, Nolan Landscaping operates with a fleet of over 10 trucks, heavy machinery for landscaping and snow removal, and a team of 25+ full-time professionals.
The company’s project portfolio includes large industrial warehouses, residential developments, and government contracts—serving Eastern Iowa with integrity, quality, and a relationship-first approach.
